The brief
A new reason to explore the park.
Pembrey Country Park needed to replace an ageing crazy golf course with a more substantial visitor attraction. The new layout had to feel connected to the place rather than dropped into it: part family activity, part introduction to the park itself.
The design drew from familiar features such as cycling, skiing and the toboggan run, alongside Pembrey’s wartime airfield, tunnels and former railway. Those references gave individual holes their own stories while keeping the course grounded in its setting.
01 / The build
Prepared for coastal conditions.
A drainage system and stable course base came before the scenic work. Durable rounded kerbs, coloured playing surfaces and flexible pathways were selected for a busy outdoor attraction that would need to withstand changing weather and regular public use.
02 / The experience
A course that belongs to Pembrey.
The route uses the park’s activities and history as a framework for play. Visitors encounter different themes from hole to hole, with enough space and visual variety to make the round feel like a journey through the wider destination.
