The brief
Make the borough part of the game.
At Ferndale Community Sports Centre in South London, the aim was to create more than a set of putting holes. The course needed to give local residents and visitors an enjoyable way to encounter places and stories from across Lambeth.
Working from that brief, each section of the route interprets a different part of the borough through obstacles, artwork and features. The finished attraction was also designed for broad access, so the theme could be enjoyed by as many visitors as possible.
01 / The groundwork
A dependable base for public play.
Ground preparation and drainage established the foundations for a lasting outdoor course. Robust rounded kerbs define the holes, while the layout and route were considered around the needs of different users from the outset.
02 / The identity
Landmarks you can putt through.
A repurposed shipping container becomes a play-through feature, with sculpted concrete and reclaimed timber adding depth to the course. Artists completed the local references with colourful finishes that make the 15 holes feel unmistakably connected to Lambeth.
